VOLCANOES NATIONAL PARK
Located in the very south west of Rwanda that is also known as the country of a thousand hills. This park is part and partial of the Virunga region and thus neighbors to Mgahinga and Bwindi impenetrable forest in Uganda and the Virunga national park on the republic of Congo harbors quiet a number of mountain gorillas. Gorillas being its top most natural beauty these endangered species have made Volcanoes national park quiet known to a number of tourist and has also put Rwanda’s tourism at their very top of the raddder. Primates in this destination also include the amazing creatures that are beautifully made the famously gorgeous golden monkeys can also be found in this park. It’s largely known to have a mountainous vegetation type that has kept the park and its surroundings attractive to the viewer every single time someone visits since it’s the place most tourist that are primate lovers would rather be.
The park harbors numerous animal types many which the prime that Volcanoes national park is known for the amazing endangered mountain gorillas which are in big numbers at this destination since its some part of the Virunga where these species are said to have remained. These mountain gorillas are grouped so as to keep close bond or into their families and Rwanda has specifically 10 habituated gorilla families in those families there is always a head who is known as the silverback there male and female mature gorillas and babies in some specific families. Activities in volcanoes national park
There is quiet number of activities that one can engage in while at this specific destination among which you will find the most famous which is gorilla trekking. This activity is engaged in by most tourists that visit this destination and a gorilla trekking permit in Rwanda goes for $1500 per permit per person tracking. The activity is somewhat strenuous but a whole big deal and rewarding when you get insight of the mountain gorillas.
You can also engage in hiking, or golden monkey trekking, you can engage in bird waiting or a village walk while in volcanoes.
How to get there
Rwanda’s volcanoes is just an hour and a half road drive from Rwanda capital city Kigali so on landing at kanombe airport you can drive northwest of Rwanda to Ruhengeri where Volcanoes national park is situated. You can alternatively fly to the estimation which will take you way less time to reach this destination.
