3 Days Visit Murchison Falls Safari

Overview

Murchison National Park is the oldest and largest national park in Uganda, covering total area of 3,893 square kilometers and the park was established in 1952. Murchison Falls National Park sits on the shore of Lake Albert in Northern Uganda covering some few districts like Buliisa, Nwoya, Kiryandongo and Masindi. The park is well known for its strong Murchison falls where the Victoria Nile River surges through the narrow gap while forming the permanent rainbows. Murchison falls national park has got variety of wildlife that includes elephants, lions, buffalo, giraffe, hippo, zebra, wildebeest, chimpanzee, and white rhino among others. The park has got plenty of different bird species and among them include Abyssinian, blue-head Coucal, swamp flycatcher, giant kingfisher, Denham’s bustard, and Senegal thick-knee among others.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Transfer from Kampala/Entebbe to Murchison Falls National Park

Our company tour guide/driver will pick you up from the hotel in the morning or from Entebbe international airport and the journey will kick off to Murchison National Park. Its 5-6 hours’ drive to Murchison falls, driving through several towns with eye catching views.  There will be a lunch stopover at minsindi town. Proceed with the journey through Budongo forest where you will come across troops of baboons, monkeys and several bird species among others.

Depending on the time of arrival at the national park, if it’s still early, you will get a chance of having an evening game drive as you prepare for the next day’s game drive. Arrive at the accommodation where you will check in, relax as you wait for dinner, if you are lucky enough you will receive visitors at your accommodation like monkeys among others.

Day 2: Morning Game Drive and Boat cruise

Wake up early and have morning breakfast, your tour guide will pick you up at 6;30am for game drive to the wilderness in search of the early morning raisers like lions, hyenas, water bucks, elephants, buffalos, giraffes, antelopes and monkeys among others. You will see different bird species like shoebill stock, king fisher, ibis and marabou stock to mention the few. You will spend the all morning in the wilderness and along the river bank as you view school of hippos cool off the heat in the waters.

Drive back to the lodge and enjoy your lunch, relax a bit before heading for an afternoon boat cruise on the Nile River. Board the boat to the top of Murchison falls with beautiful view of school of hippos, crocodiles, water bucks buffaloes, elephants, enjoying water. You will view more bird species which include king fisher, bee eater, weaver birds, goliath heron, cattle egrets and shoebill stock. View the beautiful scenery of the river bank, trek to the top of the falls where you will see water forcing through the narrow gorge while forming permanent rainbow. Take photos and enjoy moment at falls. Drive back to the lodge as you see more wildlife. Relax and dinner

Day 3: Departure back to Kampala or Entebbe International Airport

Wake up early, have morning breakfast, after pack up and sign out of the accommodation. Head for another game drive as you saying bye to the beautiful scenery of Murchison falls. Drive back to Kampala/Entebbe intentional airport with lunch stopover at Masindi town.

End of the safari.
