This 12 days safari takes you to the beautiful countries of Uganda and Rwanda for primate and wildlife experiences in their natural habitats with a blend of cultural encounters. The trip will take you to Nyungwe forest and Volcanoes national park in the land of a thousand hills (Rwanda) and Bwindi Forest national park, Queen Elizabeth and Lake Mburo in the pearl of Africa (Uganda). Detailed itinerary.

Day 1: Pick and transfer to Uganda with short city tour.

Depending on your location either a hotel or Entebbe International airport, meet up with our company representative who will give you a pre tour briefing and transfer you to Kampala with a short city. Expect to visit the museum, Parliament, Gadafi mosque among others and later check in at the reserved lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Transfer to Lake Mburo national park with a boat cruise.

Have morning breakfast and be ready for a transfer to Lake Mburo national park with enroute at the Equator for refreshments and photography if you wish. Proceed and when you arrive at the park, check in for lunch and embark on an afternoon boat cruise on Lake Mburo. Expect to see mammals like hippos, crocodiles among others. Dinner and overnight at the lodge when you drive back.

Day 3: Morning game drive, transfer to Queen Elizabeth national park.

Wake up early for morning breakfast and set off for a game drive to see the early risers. On a good day, expect to see lions, leopards and others like zebras. After the game drive, embark on a 6- 7 hours’ drive to Queen Elizabeth National park in Western Uganda with enroute lunch in Masaka. On arrival, visit the crater lakes and then check in at the booked lodge for dinner and slumber.

Day 4: Lion tracking and afternoon boat cruise.

Have morning breakfast and meet the driver for a transfer to Ishasha sector in the South of the park to trek the lions as they hunt their prey along vies of other animals like elephants, buffaloes and birds in Kasenyi sector. Retire to the lodge for lunch and in the afternoon enjoy a boat cruise on Kazinga Channel where you will fortunately sight crocodiles, hippos among others and later return to the lodge for dinner and slumber.

Day 5: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable via Ishasha sector.

After your morning breakfast, check out of the lodge and embark on a 5-7 hours journey to Bwindi Impenetrable National park via Ishasha where you will luckily see tree-climbing lions. On arrival at the park, transfer to Buhoma sector to connect to your reserved lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 6: Gorilla trekking day and community encounter.

On this amazing day, have morning breakfast and transfer to the park headquarters at Kinigi for briefing and registration with packed lunch. After being assigned a gorilla family, proceed to the starting point and commence the search for the gorillas. This will take you about 3- 7 hours to locate them and on sight, you will be given 1 hour to be with them take pictures and videos. After this highlight, trek back to the starting point to meet the driver back to the lodge. After relaxing, embark on a community walk to the Batwa where you will interact with the local on encounter and be entertained by their ancient life styles through songs and dances. Dinner and slumber at the lodge on return.

Day 7: Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi, canoeing in the evening.

Have breakfast and transfer to Lake Bunyonyi with views of the rolling hills. On arrival check in at the lodge and later embark on a canoe ride to explore the lake with its 29 islands. Among other activities at the lake to choose from include nature walk, high rope challenge among others. Have dinner and overnight stay at the lodge.

Day 8: Transfer to Volcanoes National park in Rwanda.

Following breakfast, meet the driver guide and set off the engine to Volcanoes national park in Rwanda via Cyanika boarder with enroute lunch. Before you check in at your lodge, transfer to the Twin Lake and later Dian Fossey museum for more exploration. Before nightfall, have dinner and overnight at the lodge.

Day 9: Golden monkey trekking and Iby’iwachu visit.

Have morning breakfast and transfer to the park headquarters for briefing by the guides about the golden monkeys. Proceed to the jungle and embark on the search for these rare primates taking you about 2-5 hours and 1 hour to take pictures once you fine them. Following this, return to the starting point and transfer back to the lodge for lunch. In the evening, transfer to the Iby’iwachu village to experience the Rwandan culture and tradition. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.

Day 10: Transfer to Nyungwe Forest national park.

After breakfast, set off the engine to South Western part of Rwanda to Nyungwe Forest national park. Expect to see a lot of primates like chimpanzees, monkeys at the park and later. Besides, you can also take part in a canopy walk to view the parks beauty from above. Check in at the hotel and relax or take part in preferred activity, dinner and overnight at the lodge.

Day 11: Chimpanzee trekking and canopy walk.

Have breakfast and transfer to the headquarters for briefing about the chimps and later transfer to starting point. Proceed with the search for chimpanzees for about 3-5 hours as you enjoy their chattering and laughter’s. On finding them, you will be given 1 hour to stay with them for pictures and retire for lunch. In the afternoon, enjoy a canopy walk with amazing views of the birds and primates. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.

Day 12: Departure.

Enjoy breakfast at your pace and transfer back to Kigali for a short city tour to the Genocide, museum with enroute lunch.
