3 Days Mount Elgon Hiking Safari

Overview

Mount Elgon is the largest volcanic base mount in the world and has got over 300 bird species. Mount Elgon national park has got wildlife like small antelopes, forest monkeys, elephants and buffalos to list but a few. The 3 days Mount Elgon Hiking Safari begins in Kampala and ends in Kampala or Entebbe international airport.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Transfer from Kampala to Mbale

This trip will kick off from Kampala town. Our guide/driver will pick you from agreed point and the journey to Mbale will start, drive through the largest forest in Uganda which is Mabira forest, tea plantation, sugar cane planation, cross River Nile which is on one side and Lake Victoria which is on the other side  and you will have a mini tour in Jinja town where you will visit the source of the Nile and Lake Victoria. Proceed with the journey to Mbale where you will have lunch. After lunch proceed to explore the magnificent sipi falls. Enjoy hiking the falls and later drive to the place of accommodation, either in sipi falls area or in Mbale town.

Day 2: Hiking Elgon

Wake up early and have morning breakfast. Prepare your hiking equipment’s and head to park’s headquarters where you will be briefed and the game ranger and porters will help with the hike. Remember when leaving the hotel, carry packed lunch with you. You will begin the hike from any trail like Kapwate, Kapkwai and Budadili forest exploration center. Enjoy the hike as you will see different bird species and animal species. You will ascend via any of these mentioned trials. Then thereafter drive back to the hotel for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Departure back to Kampala

Have morning breakfast and after check-out of the hotel and drive to Jinja where you will explore more tourist attractions like Bujagali falls, Itanda falls, Jinja sailing club, Masese fishing village among others. Proceed with the journey to Kampala, reaching late in the evening and you will dropped in the hotel or Entebbe international airport where you will catch flight back home.
