Which Activities Are Well-liked in the Wet Season? Due to Uganda’s abundance of tourist attractions, many travelers opt to visit the country while on safari, giving them the chance to enjoy a wonderful safari experience and make lifelong memories. Visitors are welcome to travel to this country at any time of year; however, the dry season is recommended as it has less rainfall, making it possible for people to go about their everyday lives uninterrupted.

Additionally, visitors may still go during the rainy season, which spans from September to December and from March to May, as there are a number of activities that are best done at this period, some of which are included below.

Trekking Mountain Gorillas

One of the most exciting safari experiences in the nation is gorilla trekking, which is best done from locations like Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. This park is home to over 800 endangered mountain gorilla species and offers treks through four distinct sectors: Nkuringo, Buhoma, Ruhija, Rushaga, and Mgahinga Gorilla National Park. In addition, trekking with the gorillas is easier to do in the rainy season than it is in the dry one since, during this time of year, the mountain gorillas stay closer together in areas they consider to be their best hiding spots, limiting their travels within the park.

Additionally, depending on which gorilla troop they are trekking with, visitors who go trekking are typically split up into groups of no more than eight individuals, and each group is given a park guide who will lead them along different pathways. Travelers from Mugahinga National Park are typically obliged to pass via Virunga mountains, which include, but are not limited to, Mount Muhabura, Mount Sabingyo, and Mount Gahinga.

Depending on the location of the species, gorilla trekking can take two to three hours. Once one has located the gorillas, visitors are given an hour to spend with them. Only tourists over the age of fifteen are permitted to trek with the gorillas because the behavior of young ones is always unpredictable.

Trekking chimpanzees.

Since chimps always limit their movement within the park, walking with them is also one of the best things to do during the rainy season. The greatest locations for this activity include chimpanzee habitats like those found in Kibale National Park, Queen Elizabeth National Park, and Budongo Forest.

Combining this activity with chimpanzee habitatation allows visitors to spend more time with the apes, helping them become accustomed to human presence. Visitors can also learn more about the chimps’ personalities and behaviors by observing how they play, eat, sleep, and tend to their young.

Game Drives

During game drives, which are best conducted from locations like Queen Elizabeth National Park, Murchison Falls National Park, Kidepo National Park, and many more, visitors may take in the customary vistas of the savannah plains and green, lush flora during the rainy season. Moreover, early risers that may be spotted roaming the park in search of food include impalas, gazelles, Uganda kob, and elands, among other herbivorous animals that guests may view on these drives. In addition, nighttime game drives offer the opportunity to see carnivorous animals in the wild attempting to scavenge for food.

observing birds

Since the rainy season is the best time for birds to nest and the best time to view large migrations of migratory birds, which always originate in Europe, bird watching is one of the best things to do during the rainy season. Examples of these birds include the African wattled lapwing, African wattled bee-eater, Eastern grey plantain eater, Chappin’s flycatcher, crowned lapwing, red-throated alethe, Rockefellers sunbird, Rwenzori batis, and many more.
