UWA permits
Gorilla permits from the Uganda Wildlife Authority, often known as UWA permits.
In actuality, Uganda gorilla safaris for the Mgahinga gorilla national park and Bwindi Impenetrable National Park are made possible by Uganda Wildlife Authority gorilla permits. The organization in charge of protecting Uganda’s wildlife in game reserves and national parks is UWA. The world’s biggest concentration of mountain gorillas, or half of the entire population, may be found in Uganda’s Mgahinga gorilla national park and Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.
There are currently 14 habituated mountain gorilla families in Uganda that can accommodate up to 8 trekkers per day. The 13 habituated gorilla families that make up Bwindi are spread across the park’s four sectors—Nkuringo, Buhoma, Ruhija, and Ruhija sectors.
Booking gorilla permits issued by the Uganda Wildlife Authority.
All of Uganda’s national parks and associated permits are under the jurisdiction of the Uganda Wildlife Authority. Booking a permit with UWA is necessary when a client has decided which park they want to visit. The cost of a gorilla trekking permit is USD 600.00.
The activity takes place in the southwest of Uganda, in the Mgahinga Gorilla National Park and the Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Once the national parks have been chosen, you must decide on the year, month, and day that you will be visiting Uganda. If you would just get in touch with us, we can then assist you in finding out if gorilla permits are still available with the UWA.
Your permits will be secured by us for a maximum of seven working days. Please ensure that you make payments within the seven working days, as the UWA reservation and booking system will automatically issue these permits after the seven days.
Requirements for gorilla permits issued by the Uganda Wildlife Authority.
In south-western Uganda, in the Mgahinga and Bwindi Impenetrable National Parks, gorilla trekking is conducted. To obtain a gorilla trekking permit from UWA, we require a copy of your passport containing all of your personal information, including name, nationality, and birthdate. The place of residence is necessary to ascertain which nation visits Uganda most frequently. It also influences the cost of a gorilla permit; for instance, those from East Africa—Uganda, Rwanda, Kenya, Burundi, and Tanzania—will receive a discounted rate on their gorilla ticket. Gorilla trekking permits are also available to foreign nationals at a reduced cost.
The visitor’s date of birth is required as proof of age because gorilla trekking activities are only open to those who are at least 15 years old. Children under this age are not permitted to embark on gorilla trekking expeditions since they are deemed vulnerable and frequently have contagious diseases.
However, your youngster must be physically healthy and at least a few years away from turning 15 in order to take part in the trekking if they are under that age. For assistance in the event of such a problem, please dont hesitate to get in touch with us
When to reserve a gorilla permit from the Uganda Wildlife Authority.
Since there are several applications for UWA gorilla permits every day, we encourage our clients to make their reservations at least four to five months in advance of the actual trekking date. Because Uganda is the most sought-after gorilla trekking destination in Africa, the permits sell out quickly. The mountain gorillas inhabit the three countries of Uganda, Rwanda, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
Gorilla permits in Uganda are less expensive ($800.00) than those in Rwanda ($1500.00), and they are safer than those in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Because we arrange gorilla trips on short notice, please get in touch with us so that we may check the status of the UWA permit and provide you with appropriate advice.
