The Nyiragongo Mountain The most active volcano in Africa

Africa’s Most Active Volcanoes, Mount Nyiragongo: One of the most frequent eruptions on the continent is that of the Nyiragongo volcano in the Congo. A neighboring city had to be evacuated as a result of it in 2002.

The eruption tore Goma apart. Lava covered the international airport of the city.

Lava streams are still continuously streaming out of the volcano’s side fissures.

Similar to the one that opened in 2002, this new vent is situated on the edge of Lake Kivu.

There are roughly 2 million people living along the coast of Lake Kivu. Experts claim that because of the inadequate infrastructure, it would be challenging to remove them swiftly.

Lava began to flow into Lake Kivu in 2002. Even if the lake didn’t blow up that year, it will probably blow up again eventually.
