Semliki National Park
Semliki National Park, located on the eastern edge of the primarily Congolese Ituri forest, is a remote area with over 300 different species of trees and the only low-level wooded habitat in East Africa.
In addition to being home to one of the few surviving shoebill nests and being known for having an astounding variety of bird species, Semliki is still the only location in Uganda where spot-lit night drives may be arranged. Remarkably, considering the abundance of trees, the park encompasses a very diverse ecosystem.
An extraordinarily colorful landscape is created by the competition for space between hot springs, wetlands, grassy woods, and tiny plains. Activities in Semliki include bird watching, fishing on one of the park’s many streams, and adventure hikes, in addition to looking for the endangered shoebill.
For those who are interested in birds and the functioning of ecosystems, this is a must-see destination that is highly rewarding and ideal when included in a trip that intends to visit both Queen Elizabeth and Mboro national parks.
Please be aware that Semliki Safari Lodge is the place we currently stay when visiting this area.
