Ndali Lodge in Kibale National Park
Ndali Lodge is a self-owned luxury lodge with a view of Lake Nyiambuga, situated in western Uganda, close to Fort Portal.
Constructed on land that was formerly owned by tea farmer Trevor Price and developed by his son in the 1990s, Aubrey Price is the current manager of Ndali Lodge. Guests frequently compliment Aubrey on her attention to detail, care for the land, and ability to create a laid-back and authentic Ugandan country experience.
Aubrey’s father, Mark, a builder of thatch, wood, and stone, is recognized for both the design of Ndali Lodge and the use of discovered and locally available materials in its construction. Situated on the edge of an extinct volcano, the resort consists of a main lodge and eight sleeping cottages.
There is a dining area, bar, lounge, reception, and balcony in the main lodge. The main lodge’s furnishings are warm, cozy, and calming. They are distinguished by polished floors, white walls, exposed beams, light-colored furniture, carefully picked local artifacts, and romantic lighting provided by candles or hurricane lamps.
Spaces
The eight airy and roomy stone and thatch cottages can accommodate up to 16 people, and if necessary, they can accommodate larger families. Every en suite room has a seating space, a private veranda, plenty of changing room, and a double or twin bed.
There is a flush toilet, sink, shower, and standalone bathtub in the bathroom. The cottage’s interior decorations are tasteful, understated, and feature a lovely blend of locally produced materials and salvaged wood, such as four poster beds and tables.
Trade
The estate’s crops give the local populations in the area important jobs.
Ndali Ventures is the name of the organization that Community Ndali manages. It focuses mostly on education in collaboration with the Kasiisi project, which is situated in Bigodi, near by. It provides support for school construction and secondary school sponsorship for youngsters.
Actions
Farm tours, boat rides, swimming in lakes, visits to the Mahoma waterfall, chimpanzee tracking in the 45-minute-distance Kibale Forest National Park, and forays into the Bigodi wetlands are all available activities at Ndali Lodge.
Impact Conservation Ndali is located on an estate that spans 1000 acres. With the exception of roughly 100 acres used for the cultivation of coffee, bananas, and vanilla, the remaining land has been reforested during the past 16 years to create a true habitat for birds and monkeys.
The resort runs entirely on solar power, even the refrigerator. It features a cutting-edge “Hydraulic Ram” pump that uses gravity rather than fuel to transport water from the lake to the lodge. The estate also has a tiny, rapidly expanding eucalyptus grove that supplies all of the firewood needed for the hot water system.
Food and assistance
Excellent cuisine is served at the buffet, on picnics, or during dinners, which are held around a community table in the evenings. Both the lodge’s proprietors’ company and service are excellent.
