Ishasha Wilderness Camp In Queen Elizabeth National Park

The much less crowded southern portion of Queen Elizabeth National Park is home to Ishasha Wilderness Camp, which is exactly what it says it is: a true eco-luxury bush camp.

Summary

Ishasha is a canvas, wood, and thatch building (with stone foundations) with a main camp and ten sleeping rooms. It is located in riverine woodlands and offers views of the Ntungwe River. There is a dining area, library, lounge, bar, and balcony in the communal space.

It was once a rather basic mess tent, but it has since been upgraded to an elaborate open-sided structure with elevated thatching, hefty seats, sisal matting, locally woven objects, a large stove, and a variety of discovered wood tables. The campsite is well situated, spacious enough to hold all of the guests, and comfortably furnished.

It’s the perfect place to gather, enjoy the river view, dine, and unwind—though it could be a little too large for some. This is also where the free Wi-Fi for the camp is located.

Actions

At Ishasha Wilderness Camp, guests can engage in wildlife drives, walks around the camp, bird viewing, and cultural tours.

Spaces

The sleeping tents at Ishasha Wilderness Camp are subtly positioned along the bank, with some being closer to the river than others. Their private verandas are ideally positioned to allow guests to observe the resident herds of elephant and the pod hippo. Accessible by a straightforward pathway and protected by an additional roof covering, every tent boasts a spacious double bed, an outside lavatory, ample space for changing, and quick mat dividers.

The eco-showers and toilet are just one part of a camp dedicated to leaving little more than the smallest carbon footprint; generally, the vibe is one of comfort and good living.

Food and assistance

Returning customers say a lot about the caliber of the cuisine and the degree of service. The secret of Ishasha’s success is its unassuming yet incredibly effective service, which strikes a balance between being structured and adaptable.

Meals can be taken inside or outside, communally or privately in one’s tent, and special diets and animal interests can be easily accommodated. The emphasis is on organic and sustainable food, and the cuisine is essentially European-Ugandan, with traditional meals paired with international fare. The food is sourced as locally as possible.
