Although Bwindi usually garners the most attention, Mgahinga Gorilla National Park offers a more sedate yet no less fascinating experience. Part of a wider transboundary conservation area encompassing Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of the Congo, this park is situated in the Virunga Mountains. Trekking with the Nyakagezi gorilla family is less crowded and more intimate as they traverse the highlands.

Similar to humans, gorillas form close family bonds. A gorilla family’s interactions with one another, whether they are grooming, playing, or just relaxing, are similar to staring into a mirror and reflecting our own family dynamics.

Equipped with a cane and a sense of wonder, you will venture into the forest with knowledgeable guides. Depending on where the gorillas live, the trip may take several hours or a full day.

Imagine being sweat-drenched and traveling for hours when your guide suddenly stops talking to you. Everyone falls silent. Then, just when you’re about to see the gorillas, a mischievous monkey from the jungle steals the show and makes everyone laugh.
