This 3 days Akagera wildlife tour takes you to Akagera National Park, the only savannah park in Rwanda, for ultimate wildlife experiences. Covering an area of about 2500 km, the park is a hearthstone to big mammals like lions, African bush elephants, Cape buffaloes, giraffes, and hippos that will offer you picturesque moments as you enjoy the game drives and boat cruises, among other things, in the park.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1. Pickup and transfer to Akagera National Park.

Upon your arrival at Kigali International Airport, you will be met by our driver guide from Chosen Expeditions and Tours, who will welcome you and then give you a short briefing about the entire 3 days Akagera wildlife tour. Proceed with a city tour around Kigali to the markets and Genocide and have lunch. Embark on a 2-3 hour drive to Akagera National Park with scenic views. Upon arrival, check in at the reserved lodge and set off for a night game drive to sight the nocturnal animals as they hunt their prey. Return to the lodge for dinner and a good night’s sleep.

Meal plan: lunch, dinner, and breakfast.

Day 2: Morning game drive and afternoon boat cruise on Lake Ihema.

After breakfast, set off for a morning game drive as you head to the northern section of the park to sight the early risers, which are rarely seen during the day. Among other animals to be seen are bushbucks, giraffes, and zebras, among others.

Return to the lodge for lunch, and later in the afternoon embark on a rewarding boat cruise on Lake Ihema. Expect to see water and land animals like elephants and buffaloes on the shores of the lake. Dinner and overnight stay at the lodge.

Day 3: Transfer back to Kigali.

On the last day of the trip, you will have breakfast at your pace and then depart from the lodge to Kigali city with a visit to the museum and later have lunch. Proceed to Kigali International Airport for your next flight back home, marking the end of the 3-day Akagera wildlife tour.
