10 Days Uganda Expedition Safari

Overview

The 10 days Uganda safari, will take you to four [4] major national parks in Uganda. Murchison falls national park sits on the shores of Lake Albert and found in the northwest Uganda. The park is famous for its Murchison falls which are known as the world’s most powerful falls and the park was established as a national park in 1952, covering an area of 3893 square kilometer making Murchison falls national park the largest national park in Uganda.

Kibale forest national park is located in western Uganda and the park was established in 1993 and it covers an area of 766 square kilometers. Kibale forest national park is protecting the moist evergreen rain forest in Africa and it’s a home to the largest population of the primates in Africa.

Queen Elizabeth national park is located in western Uganda and it’s one of the most popular tourist’s destination in Uganda as well as East Africa. The park was established in 1952 as kazinga national park and after two years changed to Queen Elizabeth national park after the visit of the Queen Elizabeth II. The park covers an area of 1978 square kilometres, with variety of flora and fauna, its habitat to over 95 mammal species and over 600 bird species.

Bwindi impenetrable national park is located in south-western Uganda in Kanungu district. The park covers an area of 331 square kilometres and was established as a national park in 1991. The park was named impenetrable because it was hard for anyone to penetrate through the thick rain forest.

Bwindi impenetrable national park habours the remaining endangered mountain gorillas, monkeys and number of bird species is registered.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Transfer to Murchison Falls & Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary

Our company guide/driver, will pick you from the hotel very early in the morning for transfer to Murchison falls national park. The journey takes 6-7 hours with beautiful view of evergreen vegetation, local homesteads and local people doing their daily activities. You will have stopover at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary where you will do White Rhino tracking. Drive to the sanctuary head office where you will be briefed on rules and regulations of white Rhino tracking. Start the track with help of a trained game ranger, view the rhinos and you can take photos as many as you can, drive back and proceed with the journey to Murchison falls national park. Have lunch break from Masindi hotel, one of the oldest tourist hotels in Uganda. Proceed with the drive to Murchison falls, upon arrival at the park, register at the gate and drive through the dusty road to your lodge with a view of baboons welcoming you into the park. Check-in at the lodge and wait for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Game Drive, Boat Cruise & Visit Top of the Falls

Rise up early at 6:30 am and head for morning game drive in search of the night hunters before they head back to their hide outs. Expect to encounter lions, leopards, elephants, giraffes, water bucks, warthogs, Uganda kobs, monkeys, baboons, buffaloes, hyenas and plenty of bird species among others.

Return to the lodge for late breakfast and early lunch. After lunch head for 2pm boat cruise at River Nile and expect to encounter school of crocodiles, hippos and large number of wildlife at the river bank drinking water. Hike to the top of the falls where you will see how water sequences themselves out of the tiny rocks while forming permanent rainbows. After the view, you will descent down back to the boat and sailing to the starting point. Have another game drive as you proceed to the lodge where you will have dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park

Waking up from the land of the world’s most powerful falls Murchison, have a delicious morning breakfast and check-out of the lodge. Drive to Kibale forest national park via Hoima to Fort Portal through the verdant countryside and traditional homestead, with beautiful view of farms along Albertine Rife Escarpment. En-route lunch from Fort Portal town and after lunch, you will visit the Amabere ganyinamwiru site, water falls, caves and the crater lakes.

Later in the evening drive to Kibale forest national park and check-in at the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4: Chimpanzee Tracking & Bigodi Wetland

Rise up early and have morning cup of African coffee and get ready to set off for your chimpanzee tracking experience. Your safari guide will drive you to the park’s headquarters for briefing on rules and regulations of chimpanzee tracking. Drive to the starting point and your game ranger shall lead the group into the jungle in search of the chimpanzee. You will encounter more wildlife, butterflies and bird species, after finding the chimpanzee, you will be given some time with them, observing their way of life and you’re free to take some photos, but remember not to use flash light cameras when with the chimpanzees.

Return to the lodge and have lunch break and after lunch head for Bigodi wetland sanctuary walk in search of monkeys, butterflies, flora and fauna among others. This walk is much rewarding and interesting. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 5: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

Leave the lodge very early in the morning after morning breakfast and transfer to Queen Elizabeth national park, one of the famous tourist’s destination in Uganda and a home to the tree climbing lions. Upon arrival, have early lunch break and go tour the Katwe-Kabatooro community and explore how local people engage in salt mining activity so as to boost their daily income at lake katwe. Drive to the lodge late in the evening for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 6: Game Drive & Boat Cruise to Kazinga Channel

This morning you will have to wake up early and head for morning game drive at Kasenyi area in search of the early predators before they head back to their hide outs. Expect to encounter leopards, lions, elephants, buffaloes, water buck, warthogs, kobs and plenty of bird species among others.

Return to the lodge, have late breakfast and wait for early lunch. At 2pm, head for boat cruise at the kazinga channel where you will find high concentration of wildlife at the lake shores drinking water and most especially during dry seasons. You will spot school of crocodiles, herds of hippo, buffaloes, elephants, warthogs and kobs among others. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 7: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

In the morning, you will set off to Bwindi impenetrable national park, drive through Ishasha sector famously known for its tree climbing lions and you might get a chance to view the lions relaxing on the fig trees. Proceed to the Bwindi impenetrable national park with en-route lunch. Upon arrival, check-in at the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 8: Gorilla Trekking & Nature Walk

Start off your day with a hot cup of African coffee and after get your lunch box, trekking gears and report to the park’s headquarters for briefing on the rules and regulations of gorilla trekking. The trek starts at 8:30am, trekking the rare mountain gorillas is the most exciting experience in the world which you should not miss. Search for the endangered mountain gorillas with help of a trained well-armed game ranger. After finding the gorillas, you will be given only one hour with this giants, see them playing, feeding, take photos, after return to the starting point where your guide will be waiting to transport you back to the lodge. Head for nature walk in the nearby communities. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.

Day 9: Batwa Experience in Cultural Encounter

Have a morning cup of coffee and head for Batwe experience spending a day with the Batwe people who are the forest keepers. You will be welcomed by the village chef and the villagers. You will learn plenty of things like their traditional dances, songs and storytelling of their traditional ways of farming, you will also learn how to hunt wildlife by practically handling a bow and an arrow. Take part on honey gathering experience and go through the forest to pick herbal medicine from roots and leaves of the forest trees. After the entire day with the Batwe people, return to the lodge where you will have dinner and overnight stay.

Day 10: Departure

After a morning cup of coffee, set off back to Kampala with Lunch en-routes at Igongo Cultural Centre. Proceed to Uganda Equator where you take some memorable photos. Upon arrival, check-in at the hotel or transfer to Entebbe international airport so as to catch your flight back home.
